Overview

EaseOrigin delivered a healthcare system integration initiative connecting 12 disparate clinical, administrative, and billing systems for a regional healthcare network. Using HL7 FHIR interoperability standards, the engagement established bi-directional data exchange pipelines, patient identity resolution, and a unified API gateway that enables authorized applications to access consolidated patient records while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.

The Challenge

The healthcare network operated 12 disconnected systems including EHR platforms, lab information systems, billing engines, and patient portals. Patient data was duplicated and inconsistent across systems, requiring manual reconciliation that delayed care coordination. No standardized API existed for new application integrations, and each system connection required custom point-to-point interfaces that were costly to maintain.

Our Solution

EaseOrigin designed and deployed a FHIR-based integration platform with a centralized API gateway serving as the hub for all system interconnections. We implemented patient identity resolution using probabilistic matching algorithms, built bi-directional data synchronization pipelines with conflict resolution logic, and established comprehensive audit logging for HIPAA compliance.
